Summer 08 Clan Tourney

The basics

The Summer 2008 clan tournament will be run double round robin style with team size of two. Starting on the 28th of June, each clan will get two new opponents every Saturday. Then it has sixteen days to play these opponents twice: on a map of their choosing and on a map of their opponent's choosing.

The highest rated clan gets to choose map in the first match. All the official maps may be used with the exception of Khyber Pass and Barren. Teammates Together and /enemynames must be off, and /clanmatch on.

Clans are free to pick the time of their matches, but match replays must be sent in no later than 06:00 UTC on the Monday following the start of the next round. Failure to play multiple matches may result in being disqualified from the tourney. Contact the tourney host to reschedule matches in the event of vacation trips or whatnot.

A clan has the right to a rematch if one of their players drops and it is clear from the replay that their team was highly likely to win. The clan is not entitled to a second rematch if one of its players also drops in the first.

A clan is always entitled to a rematch if one of their players drops within two minutes of the start of the match.

A player is not allowed to play for multiple clans. However, he is allowed to start playing for a new clan as long as he's only played one tourney match so far.

Scoring system

A victory is worth three points, a defeat is worth one, and a no-show will net your clan zero points. One point is awarded for a defeat in order to encourage clans to play all their matches. Clans who play a match only to resign without showing any signs of trying their best will not get this point.

Unplayed matches will count as a loss for both clans if the tourney host is not contacted within the time limit, or as a loss for the clan judged to be avoiding the match the most if one or both clans have made contact.

A clan that has played the first of two matches versus an opponent may choose to take a loss instead of playing the rematch. If it does this, or if the rematch is simply not played within the time limit, the clan will still get one point.

If a game crashes after the 20 minute mark, the clans may choose to submit the partial replay and have the tourney host judge the outcome rather than find time to play a rematch. In this case, a match may be judged a draw and both clans awarded two points.

Winners and awards

The tourney winner will be the clan with the highest amount of points when all matches have been played. If several clans have the same amount of points, final rankings will be decided by amount of wins, the results of the matches between these clans, or extra matches, in that order.

Members of the top three clans who played at least 25% of their clan's matches will get a game award and their name in the Hall of Victory.
